What you can expect

I am committed to providing timely, evidence-based gastroenterology care for your patients, with clear communication at every stage. I will work collaboratively with you to ensure your patients receive an efficient, holistic, high-quality assessment and management.

Clinical Services

I accept referrals for the full spectrum of gastroenterology and hepatology, including:

  • Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis)

  • Coeliac disease and malabsorption

  • Functional gut disorders (IBS, bloating, dyspepsia)

  • Gastro-oesophageal reflux and oesophageal disorders

  • Liver disease (MAFLD/MASLD, abnormal LFTs, hepatitis)

  • Iron deficiency and anaemia

  • GI bleeding

  • Abdominal pain

  • Weight-related GI issues

  • High-risk bowel cancer surveillance

I see patients for consultation and procedures with or without private health insurance.

If your referral is urgent, please signify that on the referral or contact Dr Chetwood specifically so expedited review can be arranged

Endoscopic procedures

Dr Chetwood is accredited with GESA for a range of endoscopic procedures, including:

  • Gastroscopy

  • Colonoscopy

  • Polypectomy

  • Upper/Lower gastrointestinal stricture dilatation

  • Capsule endoscopy

  • Balloon enteroscopy (for deep small bowel assessment)

Imaging procedures

  • Intestinal ultrasound

Urgent Referrals

For urgent clinical concerns such as

  • Significant gastrointestinal bleeding

  • Acute severe inflammatory bowel disease

  • Rapid weight loss

  • Concerning anaemia

  • Suspicion of malignancy

  • Dysphagia or food impaction

Please mark the referral as urgent or contact me directly so we can expedite review.

If you would like your patient to be seen as direct access for a procedure, or if you would specifically like them to have an intestinal ultrasound - please include that in the referral.

Pre-Consultation
Information for Patients

Where possible, it is useful to provide:

  • Relevant blood tests

  • Recent imaging (ultrasound, CT, MRI)

  • Previous endoscopy reports

  • Medication list

  • Past medical/surgical history

This helps ensure a complete, efficient consultation.

What Referrers Can Expect

  • Shared decision-making with the patient.

  • Rapid access for urgent concerns.

  • Evidence-based management using the latest guidelines.

  • Direct communication if needed - I am always happy to be contacted directly by local GPs.

GP Support

I am happy to support local GPs with phone advice for complex gastroenterology issues, or for updates on patients I am consulting on. Please don’t hesitate to give me a call or email to discuss our patient’s shared care.
